Pentel blue lines are really hard to erase, so you don't risk to loose a part of the drawing definitely anyway. ErasingWith my kneaded eraser, I soft erase my blue sketch. The goal is not to make a perfect blue sketch, then to just overwrite each one of lines. I need to let room for still getting a bit of freedom on the next step. I'm doing my best to build the main volumes. Blue sketchI keep drawing with my blue pencil, and add details. My gesture are large, and I handle the pen also differently than usual to not draw with the wrist or finger, but involve the whole arm in the gesture.ģ. You can see I trace large arc and keep the whole things undetailed. I tested also many other brands, and the Pentel are the one who suit more my taste and drawing style. I keep them very light and subtle, with minimal pressure on my blue pen. GuidelinesI take my reference on the side of my desk and with a new sheet of paper I start drawing guidelines. It's certainly a classic composition, or something a bit cliché for a run and jump pose but I wanted to see this one done with more details.Ģ. This morning, a little thumbnail catch my attention. I do it to be in sync with my volumes, and also break the stress to draw badly later on the day. I usually draw facial expression, then poses and sometime thumbnails. Warming upI start every day with a sheet of A4 sketch at the same time I drink coffee at morning. In my opinion, learning how the Krita brush engines work is the smartest thing to do.A free, minimalist, compact, with black&white thumbnail brushpreset kit for the free and open-source software Krita.ĭesigned for my own productivity. The only catch is that Krita imports the Photoshop brush files just as brush tips without the other settings, so for most Photoshop brushes you will need to adjust the brush settings to make them work properly. There you have it, a veritable treasure hoard of downloadable brushes for Krita, and even some explanation of how to use Krita's built-in brush engines.įor those who still aren't satiated, Krita also supports Photoshop brushes! I find it's the default brush is best for an ink aesthetic, but by playing with the brush settings you can make some great oil and acrylic brushes! In the brush settings, you define the area with "bristles" in it, and the size and rotation settings affect the whole brush tip, not the individual "bristles". The bristle brush engine aims to replicate how a real life brush would work. If you want your paintings to feel like traditional inks, or oil or acrylic paintings, try out the Krita's bristle brush engine. This is a little bit about each of them and how they work. Krita currently includes 15 brush engines. Perhaps you'll be able to make brushes even better than the ones you've downloaded! Try out playing with the settings of the brush engines and see what you can make on your own - the possibilities are incredible. I wanted to showcase a little bit about the brush engines that are included in Krita, what they can do and how they differ from each other.
